As additives to lubricants, fullerene and its derivatives (derivate derivatives) such as fullerene soot increase temperature and oxidation stability, while extending the life of the oils. Lubricating greases reinforced with fullerene soot are used for mounting friction and rolling bearings. These bearings have improved thermal conductivity and rheological stability, as well as a shorter run-in period.
In fuel, as a combustion catalyst and antioxidant, forming a protective layer in the load zone, up to 100 nm thick.
