Due to their chemical activity and strong antioxidant effects, C60 and C70, as well as higher fullerenes, are highly demanded in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals as a reducing agent.

In photovoltaics, photovoltaic fullerenes have also found their application as an electron acceptor, while guaranteeing high electrical conductivity and protection from ultraviolet radiation.

In coatings as a wear-resistant additive. For example, coatings based on polyurethane, reinforced with fullerene additives, are used in the mining industry, mechanical engineering, the chemical industry - where there are increased requirements for stability to abrasive wear and aggressive media.

As additives to lubricants, fullerene and its derivatives (derivate derivatives) such as fullerene soot increase temperature and oxidation stability, while extending the life of the oils. Lubricating greases reinforced with fullerene soot are used for mounting friction and rolling bearings. These bearings have improved thermal conductivity and rheological stability, as well as a shorter run-in period.

In fuel, as a combustion catalyst and antioxidant, forming a protective layer in the load zone, up to 100 nm thick.
