The outstanding physical effects that accompany nanometer-sized materials are attracting the attention of scientists and expanding their usefulness in industry. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) from ENY-Mobility GmbH show outstanding properties. These properties include the high thermal conductivity of 3,000-3,500 W m·K-1 at normal room temperature. They show a high absorption of solar radiation in the form of an almost perfectly dark object. In addition, nanoparticles have good optical properties. In particular due to the high solar absorption and the low long-wave emission, nanotubes are a selective absorber of solar energy. It is claimed that CNT-based coatings show a significant reduction in reflectivity that reduces infrared radiation. Accordingly, the researchers use CNTs to select solar energy.
